The Treasure Coast Art Association is pleased to offer a free week scholarship to the St. Lucie County Oxbow Eco-Center’s “Spirit of Nature Art Camp.” The camp is located at 5400 N. E. St. James Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983. This camp opportunity is open to young people ages 11 to 17 for the week of July 29th through August 2nd from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
The winner will need to bring his/her lunch and snacks, plus dress appropriately for being out in the great outdoors and getting messy while creating works of art. The activity schedule is designed so that participants are not outside during the hottest parts of the day. The applicant must be in good health and able to walk 1 to 2 miles.
To enter to win this scholarship, applicants ages 11 to 17, are asked to write a 50-word statement on “Why Art is Important to Me.” Send your statement via United States Postal Service to Treasure Coast Art Association, 223 Avenue A, Fort Pierce, FL. Deadline for application is Monday, July 1, 2013. The winner’s parents or guardian will be responsible for completing the Oxbow Eco-Center application and providing transportation for the winner to and from the center during the week.
Funding for this camp scholarship is made possible by the Treasure Coast Art Association’s “Strawberry Fund,” established in 2009 in honor of Terry “Strawberry” Gallozzi, a local artist who dedicated thousands of hours of her short life to art and culture in St. Lucie County.

The Rainbow Looms are a 2012 fad that is making its way into our area. Very hot in the schools to the South and Central Florida. Jeanne was given three of these looms with the rubber bands for our art camps.
