Preparing Your Tree

You may choose to build your tree off site, but there are several things you need to keep in mind in order to design a transportable, completely decorated tree.  Follow these requirements closely to ensure that your tree doesn’t bend or fall apart on its way to the Arcade Building, 101 North US1, Fort Pierce and eventually to the tree’s new home.

Ornaments and Decorations:

Glue the metal ornament cap onto every ornament.  Then wire every ornament, garland and decoration securely to the tree.  Floral wire is the best for this process as blends with the tree's color.  Should your tree be silver or another color, use the appropriate wire color.

Tree Stands:

Use only approved stands provided with the tree are acceptable.  Make sure to glue stand if plastic or place secure screws if the stand is metal.  Any expectations should be discussed with and approved by the Treasure Coast Art Association.

SUGGESTION: Reinforce Your Tree:

All trees, 4-foot to 6-foot, must have their trunks reinforced by after assembly from package you screw the tree sections together.

For larger trees, if the trunk is hollow, you must insert a piece of PVC pipe inside the trunk.  It should extend from the bottom of the tree stand to the top of the tree, or as far as possible.

Rebar must also be attached on the outside of the tree trunk from the bottom of the tree stand to the top of the tree and secured with hose clamps in six (6) to eight (8) places.  This will prevent the tree from bending at the top or breaking at the base during delivery.

Sections or joints must be permanently joined together with self-tapping screws or long bolts that extend completely through the trunk and are secured with nuts.  This will prevent the tree sections from separating during delivery.

Tree Delivery:

Please remember that these trees are being decorated for homes and businesses.  Trees need to fit through a regular sized door.

Note:  If your tree breaks during delivery, you may be asked to help repair it or replace it, if you do not follow instructions or if the cause is a design flaw.
